Gemma Peers from Paper Town Crafts helps us to get crafty with these fiendishly good Halloween crafts.
When it comes to crafting with the kids, the sky’s the limit with what you can make for Halloween. Their imagination can run wild with these spooky crafts and you can stave off another sweet treat while they get making.
Spooky Mummy Lanterns
This is a really simple craft for all ages but the end result is really effective and perfect for leaving in your window on Halloween night.
You will need:
- Empty glass jar
- 10 x strips of white crepe paper
- 2 x goggly eyes (I used 15mm eyes)
- Sticky tape
- LED flickering tealight
It really couldn’t be easier to make these spooky mummies. Just attach the first strip of crepe paper to the top of the jar with sticky tape and wrap round as far as it will go before taping down then end with more sticky tape. Just keep going with each piece of crepe paper until the jar is covered. For the best effect, wrap the crepe paper on angles to make them look like bandages around your mummy.
Next stick on the goggly eyes and then pop in your tealight and you are all done.
Cute pinecone bats
You could make a whole family of these cute pinecones bats and hang them around your child’s bedroom for a not so spooky Halloween.
You will need:
- A pinecone
- 2 x goggly eyes (I used 10mm eyes)
- 2 x bat wings cut from black card
- 2 x small white paper triangles (triangular stickers are perfect for this if you have them)
- 2 x small black card triangles
- 30cm length of black wool
- Glue stick
Using the pointed top of the pinecone as the bat’s nose, stick the eyes, white triangle fangs and black triangle ears to his face using a glue stick.
Now just add the bat wings to the back of the pinecone using a glue stick again. You may need to hold these in place while the glue dries.
Tie the black wool around the pinecone so you can hang him up.
Paper Plate Ghouls
There is no end to the Halloween ghosts and ghouls you could make with this paper plate craft. As long as you have the right colour paper plate you are away.
You will need:
- Coloured paper plate (7 inch plates are ideal)
- 2 x lengths of coloured card
- Coloured card shapes to decorate
- 20cm length of wool
- Glue stick
- Sticky tape
Fold the lengths of coloured card into concertinas to make the bouncy legs and stick to the paper plate with the glue stick.
Now decorate your plate with your coloured card shapes. I have created a pumpkin, Frankenstein’s Monster and a bat for my decorations.
Turn over the plate and stick the length of wool at the top in a loop with sticky tape.
