Kidunk's charity partnership with Caudwell LymeCo
The Kidunk X Caudwell LymeCo challenge.
During September at Kidunk we are setting our little adventurers a challenge as part of the Caudwell LymeCo Charity ’Walk, Ride or Climb for Lyme’ campaign.
Due to the Coronavirus and the cancellation of many sporting and fundraising challenges, like many other charities, Caudwell LymeCo are due to lose out on tens of thousands of pounds this year that would have been put towards Lyme disease research fund. Their ability to carry out life-changing research to improve the lives of the thousands of people suffering with Lyme is vital, so we are looking at new, fun ways to help raise much needed funds and something the whole family can take part in!
We’ve loads of exciting ideas and over the coming weeks we’ll be sharing stories from families talking up the challenge and maybe even trying something new! What ever your family's ability, however adventurous they are let’s get outside and have some fun!
There’s three easy steps to taking part;-
1. Select a challenge - you can walk, cycle or climb any distance you want, in any location, on any date before the end of September.
Maybe you can walk a few laps around your local park, cycle a mile or maybe even three! Or maybe climb a local hill.
2. Set up a fundraising page - https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/walkrideorclimbforlyme (Click here for sponsorship graphic)
3. Complete your challenge!
If you’d like to take part and join the team, we’re giving every child taking part who raises £30 and over, one of our award-winning Kidunk Summer or Bright's All Season's range sets (worth over £50) Just select an event, a location and a date in September and let's get fundraising!
1. Participants should set up a ‘Just Giving’ page to be eligible for a free suit. https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/walkrideorclimbforlyme
2. Each child aged 2-5 years taking part will be entitled to select from the Kidunk Summer or Kidunk All seasons Bright's range comprising of top and trouser. *The Kidunk Hooded Tops and Trouser sets in Plum, Ink and Forest designs are not part of this campaign*
3. For teams of more than one child, to qualify for a suit, each individual child within the team should raise £30. (team of 2 children would need to raise £60)
4. Participants will be invited to contact Kidunk directly by email at email@example.com on completion of their event with delivery details and items requested.
5. Suits will be sent by Royal Mail to participants within 2 weeks of completing the event.
6. There is no cash equivalent.
7. To qualify to receive a free Kidunk suit you must be a resident in the United Kingdom or Republic of Ireland

The Kidunk X Caudwell LymeCo partnership.
With research suggesting that there are up to 10,000 cases of Lyme disease per year in the UK – that’s around 27 people per day affected. The true number could be much higher, but due to a lack of reliable testing and knowledge of the disease, exact numbers are difficult to confirm.
Lyme disease is caused by the bite of an infected tick and can affect the brain, nerves, joints, heart, eyes, and cause a characteristic skin rash. Prompt diagnosis and treatment is key for a quick and full recovery. When not spotted and treated quickly, the infection can cause life-limiting symptoms and be difficult to cure. A Caudwell LymeCo patient survey found that around a third of those who catch Lyme still experienced symptoms after treatment, and it’s thought that around 20% never fully recover from the disease.
Our unique partnership came about following the successful launch of our lightweight summer range last year, the main benefit of the range is based on it been ‘fully protective’, made with a UVA protective material but also because of its styling – zipped waist, elasticated cuffs and ankles and close fitting necklines.
The Kidunk summer design makes it ideal as a preventative step against insects including ticks when children play or spend time outdoors in the countryside, forests, urban parks and gardens to name a few.
Starting in May 2020 and throughout the Summer, Kidunk will support Caudwell working together to raise awareness of tick bite prevention through a series of initiatives. We will also donate 10% of sales of our summer range to the charity for its research programs and provide further opportunities for awareness via our existing partnerships and collaborations. It is hoped that a series of pop up events will also take place later in the summer, but of course this is subject to access to the countryside and sites through the relaxing of Covid 19 lockdown measures.
Kidunk Co-Founder and Designer Lisa Joyce said: 'We are absolutely delighted to be working with this fantastic charity. As a brand, we actively encourage families to get outside and enjoy the countryside, but in a safe manner. Whilst the current situation of course limits outdoor access, we are seeing families explore the countryside on their doorsteps and closer to home. Being outdoors has never been so important but of course its essential it is safe and within the guidelines. Our summer suit design makes it a perfect protective garment for younger children and a great step towards prevention of insect bites.
Rosie Milsom, Fundraising & Communications for Caudwell LymeCo says: “We are thrilled to begin this partnership with Kidunk. We are extremely grateful for their support of our Lyme disease research fund, and excited for the opportunity to raise awareness of Lyme through their existing partnerships. We love the company’s values, and from the start it has left like a great fit. Their high quality, fun clothing for children can help to protect them from ticks whilst they enjoy the outdoors. Kidunk are a pleasure to work with, and we look forward to a long and prosperous partnership.”
